Eigentümliche Verhältnisse (2022)
A video essay by Onur Agbaba, Emil Ertl, and Lotta Beckers
Property relations shape our social coexistence, the organization of public space, and even our movement–sometimes invisibly, sometimes dramatically visible. Using our own behavioral protocols, we attempt to trace these invisible boundaries. Private property and its limits are inscribed in our bodies.
The video essay Peculiar Relations is devoted to the bodily exploration of these “peculiar” structures of feeling. By intersecting urban and rural, private and public spaces, it traces overgrown boundaries and subtle taboos. Movement is tested as a poetic means of appropriation. What do you feel when you stroke someone else’s car?
